the beginning

Kimberly Theodore is a memoirist and storyteller whose work explores the quiet corners of girlhood, the messiness of love, and the ways we find ourselves in the aftermath.

Her debut memoir, the bunny suit, traces the sharp, tender edges of growing up in a fractured home, falling in love online at sixteen, and discovering who she was outside of what she survived. With a voice that’s both confessional and soft, Kimberly writes about memory as a living thing: something we return to, reshape, and reclaim.

When she’s not writing, you can usually find her tucked into the corner of a bar with a notebook, a glass of wine, and her cat Gandalf the Grey waiting at home.

This site is a place to share her work, the stories behind the book, and the soft, strange magic of making art from the truth. Watch as she steps into the world of publishing and brings the bunny suit to life.

the first memoir: the bunny suit

As a teenager, I was obsessed with Omegle, the video-chat site where strangers met with a click. One night, my friend begged, “just one more person,” as we sat on my bed.

A handsome singer, locally famous in England for his moody, late-night sets in pubs, lit up my screen and couldn’t take his eyes off me. A rising musician. A dreamer. A stranger who saw me. Was I falling in love, or into a fantasy? That night lit a match I’d carry for years—one I couldn’t tell my parents about. My mother was passed out from wine. My father was too angry to speak. And I was already on my way out the door.
